Our Founder
Rita Blount-Bradley, aka Meme, was a delicately courageous unstoppable woman to be reckoned with. In the year 1970, she was unable to find a school fit for her cherished 4 year old twins (Lee and Patty). She then decided that she would begin her own where children, teachers, and parents could come together under a common ground, the “Joy of Learning”.
Earning her American Montessori Institute (AMI) certification through St. Nicholas center in London, she began the life changing journey of The Threshold Montessori School. Year after year, Rita and the wonderful teachers alongside her began making a difference in children’s lives. After graduating from the University of Memphis, and completing her Montessori certification, daughter Patty joined alongside her after realizing her passion for teaching as well.
Ms. Rita dedicated her whole life to ensure that Threshold Montessori was a safe haven full of love, learning, and encouragement for every child that walks through its doors. After her passing in 2013, the school was officially taken into the hands of Ms. Patty Ferrara. Fifty years have passed since she opened its doors, and the legacy here is still very much alive, continuing to build the joy of learning one child at a time.
